  • I've been going to this school for a few years and it has completely changed my life for the better. My old school was broke, mouse ridden, academics were poor and I didn't have a strong relationship with my teachers. Though the extra curricular activities were wonderful I felt singled out because I was the only Jew. When I transferred to Barrack, I found myself in a warm, welcoming environment. In this school, I could tell people wanted me to be here. I found myself participating in activities, grade events, and Jewish learning that I would not have gotten anywhere else. Though the academics are challenging, I have seen my own older brother in college and how much it helped him. The teachers are willing to work one on one with students and students help each other while studying and with work. There is almost no competition between students in the classroom and on the field. Everyone seems to help each other and work together to complete their goals. The extra curricular programs here are inclusive and make everyone want to join. The theatre program allowed me to experience being in the spotlight and taking on the responsibility of my schoolwork along with my lines. The drama director is so funny and kind, giving us tough love when we need it and compliments when we deserve them. His husband, our music director, lights up the room with his huge smile and willingness to help. They both encourage students to reach their full potential and taught me that school isn't just about academics, its also about "kehilah" or community. I look forward to being able to say that I graduated from this wonderful school. I am also proud to call myself a Jew with ADHD who survived Barrack.
